About
Turn PNG images into GIF files. A transparent PNG stays transparent as a GIF, a screenshot keeps its crisp edges, and you can convert one file or a whole folder's worth at once.
PNG and GIF are both lossless formats made for graphics, so logos, icons, diagrams and screenshots usually look the same after the switch. The differences are colour count and transparency. A PNG can hold millions of colours and 256 levels of see-through; a GIF holds at most 256 colours and each pixel is either fully clear or fully solid. This converter builds the best 256-colour palette for each PNG, so a flat logo with a dozen colours comes through exactly. For transparency, any pixel more than half see-through becomes clear and the rest become solid, which keeps the shape of a cut-out but turns a soft drop shadow into a hard edge. Everything runs in your browser, so your PNGs never leave your device.

FAQ
Quick answers to common questions about the PNG to GIF Converter.
Add your PNG files above, click "Convert to GIF", then click Download next to each result. The GIF keeps the PNG's size and transparency.
Yes. Clear areas of the PNG stay clear in the GIF. Because GIF has no partial transparency, pixels more than half see-through become fully clear and the rest fully solid.
A shadow or feathered edge is made of half-transparent pixels, which a GIF can't store. They are snapped to clear or solid. If the soft edge matters, keep the file as a PNG, or place the image on a solid background in an editor before converting.
Only if it uses more than 256 colours. Logos, icons, charts and most screenshots use fewer and come through unchanged. A photo saved as PNG is reduced to 256 colours, so smooth gradients can show bands.
For simple graphics they are usually close in size. For photo-like PNGs the GIF can be larger or smaller depending on the picture. The result shows both file sizes, so you can compare before downloading.
Yes. Add as many PNGs as you like. Each is converted in turn and gets its own Download button; there's no ZIP, so you save the ones you need.
Yes. The GIF has exactly the same width and height as the PNG. To make it smaller, shrink the PNG first with the Image Resizer, then convert the result.
It converts the first frame of an APNG into a still GIF. To make an animated GIF, add each frame to the GIF Maker.
No. Each PNG is read and encoded to GIF in your browser, so the files never leave your device.
