What Toolapt is

Toolapt started from a simple frustration: needing a quick word count, a JSON formatter, or a way to merge two PDFs, and having to dig through cluttered sites full of pop-ups, forced sign-ups, or a "free trial" that expects a credit card. It's built as the opposite of that — a single, consistent place with 223 small, focused tools that each do one job well.

There's no dashboard to learn and no workspace to set up. Open a tool, use it, and leave — that's the whole interaction.

How it works

Most tools on this site run entirely as JavaScript in your browser. When you count words, format JSON, generate a password, or resize an image, that work happens on your own device — the input never leaves it.

That includes the heavier file tools too — converting between PDF and Office formats, OCR, compressing, protecting and unlocking PDFs, and opening HEIC or TIFF images all run on your device, using code libraries this site loads the first time you need them. Your files are never uploaded. The details are in the Privacy Policy.

Why it's free

Toolapt is supported by a small amount of advertising rather than subscriptions, accounts, or paywalls. That's the trade-off: the site stays free and open for everyone, and in return it carries some ad space. There's no plan to change that model to a "free tier vs. paid tier" split.

Independent project

Toolapt is built and maintained as an independent project, not by a large company. Tools get added and improved over time based on what turns out to be useful — if something's missing, broken, or could work better, the contact page is the way to say so.
