Guide

Using the Indonesian Typing Speed Test

  1. 1

    Step 1

Choose Easy, Medium or Hard — Hard brings in rupiah amounts and times written with a dot, like 09.30 — then set no limit or a 1, 2 or 5 minute timer.

  2. 2

    Step 2

Click directly on the Indonesian passage text and start typing — there's no separate text box.

  3. 3

    Step 3

Keep reduplicated words such as anak-anak and hati-hati intact, hyphen included; a slip turns red, and the clock starts with your first key.

  4. 4

    Step 4

When you finish or the timer stops, read your Indonesian WPM and accuracy, then load a new passage or save a certificate labelled with the level and "Indonesian".

  • Real Indonesian passages in the plain Latin alphabet, so you can type them on any standard QWERTY keyboard
  • Mostly phonetic spelling and almost no accents make it a clean measure of raw typing speed
  • Easy lines such as Kucing itu tidur di sofa sepanjang hari. come first; Hard adds a quotation, 09.30, Rp1.059.320 and a phone number
  • Timed runs of 1, 2 or 5 minutes keep loading fresh Indonesian sentences — good preparation for an administrative typing test
  • Pasting is blocked and each letter turns green or red as you go, so the hyphen in reduplicated words like anak-anak has to be typed too

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

Quick answers to common questions about the Indonesian Typing Speed Test.

What does the Indonesian Typing Speed Test do?

It gives you a random Indonesian passage — short everyday lines, longer Medium sentences or Hard ones with rupiah amounts and times — and measures your words per minute and accuracy until you finish or the timer you set runs out.

Is Indonesian harder to type than English because of special characters?

No — Indonesian uses the plain Latin alphabet with almost no diacritics, and its near-fully-phonetic spelling means what you see is what you type, without accent marks to worry about.

Why is Indonesian good for building raw speed?

Its passages use the plain Latin alphabet with no accents, so every letter is on a standard QWERTY keyboard. That makes it a good language for practising pure speed and rhythm without stopping for special characters.

Do I need to type the hyphen in words like anak-anak?

Yes. Reduplicated words are written with a hyphen, and it counts as a character like any other — anak-anak typed as anak anak is marked wrong.

Why are times written as 09.30?

Indonesian puts a dot between hours and minutes, so the Hard passages show 09.30 and 18.00. Type the dot, not a colon.

What do the Easy, Medium and Hard levels change?

Easy uses short everyday words, Medium uses full sentences, and Hard adds punctuation, numbers and symbols — so you also practise reaching beyond the letter keys.

When does the timer start?

On your first keystroke, not when the page loads, so you can read the opening words before you begin. In a timed test the run ends automatically when the clock reaches zero.
