FAQ

Frequently asked questions

Quick answers to common questions about the Line Sorter.

What does the Line Sorter do?

It sorts a list of lines into one of several orders: alphabetical, numeric, by length, reversed, or a random shuffle.

Is the Line Sorter free to use?

Yes. It's free, with no sign-up, no watermark and no limit on how many times you use it.

Is my list safe when I use this tool?

Yes. Your list is processed entirely on your own device — nothing is sent to a server.

How does numeric sorting handle lines with no numbers?

Numeric sort compares the leading number of each line; lines without a recognizable number are treated as having no numeric value and sort accordingly.

Can I remove duplicates while sorting?

Yes. Turn on "Remove duplicates" to drop repeated lines as part of the same sort operation.

Does the shuffle option produce a different order every time?

Yes. Choosing "Shuffle" and clicking Sort again randomizes the order freshly each time.

Can I sort a list case-sensitively?

Yes. Turn on "Case sensitive" so uppercase and lowercase letters are compared strictly rather than treated as equivalent.

Does the Line Sorter have any limitations?

It's built for everyday lists; extremely large lists are still handled but may take a moment longer to sort.
