About the Signature Pad

Lets you draw a signature with your mouse, stylus or finger, then download it as a transparent PNG or a scalable SVG.

Freelancers use it to sign a PDF invoice or contract without printing and scanning anything, while anyone filling out a digital form uses it to add a personal signature image in seconds. It's one of many free generator tools on Toolapt, and like every tool here, it's free to use with no sign-up and no limit on how many times you run it.

Guide

Using the Signature Pad

  1. 1

    Step 1

Pick an ink colour — black, blue, navy, red, or your own custom shade — to match how you'd sign on paper.

  2. 2

    Step 2

Draw directly on the pad with your mouse, stylus or finger.

  3. 3

    Step 3

Use Undo to remove the last stroke, or Clear pad to start over completely.

  4. 4

    Step 4

Keep drawing until the signature looks right.

  5. 5

    Step 5

Click Download PNG for a cropped raster image, or Download SVG for a scalable vector version — both auto-cropped to the signature with no empty space around it.

  • Auto-crops both the PNG and SVG download to the signature itself, so there's no wasted transparent margin around it
  • Saves as a transparent PNG, so the signature drops cleanly onto any document or background
  • Also exports true vector SVG paths — built from the actual pen strokes, not a traced raster — so the signature stays crisp at any size
  • Black, blue, navy and red ink presets plus a full colour picker for any custom shade
  • Undo removes just the last stroke, without clearing the whole signature
  • Keeps your signature on screen if the window resizes, instead of silently wiping the pad
  • Adapts to your screen's pixel density for a crisp, non-blurry result
  • Works entirely in your browser — no installs and no sign-up
  • Free to use, with no limit on how many times you run it
  • Fully responsive, so it works just as well on a phone as on a desktop

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

Quick answers to common questions about the Signature Pad.

What does the Signature Pad do?

It lets you draw a signature with your mouse, stylus or finger, then download the result as a transparent PNG or a scalable SVG.

Is the Signature Pad free to use?

Yes. It's free, with no sign-up, no watermark and no limit on how many times you use it.

Is my signature safe when I use this tool?

Yes. Your signature is drawn and saved entirely on your own device using a small drawing library loaded from this site — it's never uploaded to a server.

Why is the downloaded PNG transparent?

So you can drop the signature onto any document, form or background colour without a white box appearing around it.

Why doesn't the downloaded image have empty space around the signature?

The download is automatically cropped to the signature itself with a small margin, instead of exporting the whole pad, so it drops onto a document at the right size without extra blank space.

Should I download PNG or SVG?

Download PNG for a normal image you'll paste into a document at roughly the size you drew it. Download SVG if you need to resize the signature — a stamp, a letterhead, a large print — since the SVG is built from vector paths and stays perfectly sharp at any size, unlike a PNG which blurs or pixelates when scaled up.

Can I change the ink colour?

Yes. Pick black, blue, navy or red above the pad, or use the rainbow swatch to open a colour picker and choose any shade you like. The colour applies to your very next stroke, and any you've already drawn stay whatever colour they were drawn in.

Can I use this on a touchscreen phone or tablet?

Yes. The pad responds to touch as well as mouse input, so you can sign with a finger or stylus on a phone or tablet.

What if I make a mistake while signing?

Click Undo to remove just the last stroke, or Clear pad to wipe the whole signature and start again.

Can I use the Signature Pad on my phone?

Yes. The page is fully responsive and works on mobile, tablet and desktop browsers alike.

Does the Signature Pad have any limitations?

It only exports an image or vector file — to actually place that signature onto a PDF document, use it together with the Sign PDF tool, which drops an uploaded or drawn signature straight onto a page.
