Examples

Maze Generator examples

4 worked examples

01

A small 10×10 maze

Setting Columns and Rows to 10 and clicking Generate maze carves a 10×10 grid maze using randomized depth-first search, with a guaranteed path through every cell.

02

A large 40×40 maze

Setting Columns and Rows to 40 draws a denser 40×40 grid on the canvas, with every cell still reachable and no isolated pockets.

03

Downloading as PNG

After generating any maze, clicking "Download PNG" saves it as maze.png. The drawing is scaled to about 600px across, so a 20×20 maze downloads at 601×601 with 30px cells.

04

Maximum supported size

Setting Columns and Rows to 60, the largest supported size, still generates in the browser almost instantly — the cells just get smaller (10px each).

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

Quick answers to common questions about the Maze Generator.

What does the Maze Generator do?

It generates a random, solvable maze at the grid size you choose, and lets you download it as a PNG image.

Is the Maze Generator free to use?

Yes. It's free, with no sign-up, no watermark and no limit on how many times you use it.

Is my input safe when I use this tool?

Yes. The maze is generated and drawn entirely on your own device — nothing is sent to a server.

Is every generated maze solvable?

Yes. The carving algorithm starts from one cell and only ever opens a passage to an unvisited neighbour, so every cell is reachable and the maze always has a path through it.

What sizes can I generate?

Any grid from 5x5 up to 60x60 columns and rows.

What file format does the download use?

A PNG image, sized automatically to fit the number of columns and rows you chose.

Can I use the Maze Generator on my phone?

Yes. The page is fully responsive and works on mobile, tablet and desktop browsers alike.

Does the Maze Generator have any limitations?

Grids are capped at 60x60 to keep generation and rendering fast in the browser.
