About

About the Open Graph Preview

Shows how a link will look when it's shared on Facebook, LinkedIn and X, checks the size of your og:image, and builds the matching Open Graph tags to copy.

Marketers use it to make sure a campaign page's share card has the right image and headline before it goes out, while developers use it to check the Open Graph values a page template produces. It's one of many free SEO tools on Toolapt, and like every tool here, it's free to use with no sign-up and no limit on how many times you run it.

01

A correctly sized share image

An og:image of 1200 × 630 px is reported as "good size" and fills both the Facebook / LinkedIn and the X preview cards without awkward cropping.

02

A square image

A 1000 × 1000 px logo used as og:image is flagged "will be cropped (best ratio is 1.91:1)" — the Facebook / LinkedIn card shows a 1.91:1 strip from the middle, so the top of the logo and the bottom of its name are lost.

03

Tags for a blog post

A title, URL, description, image and site name produce seven tags — og:title, og:description, og:type website, og:url, og:image, og:site_name and twitter:card summary_large_image — ready to paste into the page's head.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

Quick answers to common questions about the Open Graph Preview.

What does the Open Graph Preview do?

It shows how a link will look when shared on Facebook, LinkedIn and X, checks your share image, and gives you the Open Graph tags to put in your page.

What size should an og:image be?

1200 × 630 pixels is the standard choice. That's a 1.91:1 ratio, which Facebook and LinkedIn show without cropping. The tool warns you if the image is smaller than 600 × 315 or a very different shape.

Why doesn't my image load in the preview?

The URL has to be public and point straight at an image file (ending in .jpg, .png and so on, or served as an image). Images on private, local or login-protected pages, and some sites that block hotlinking, can't be loaded.

Why does Facebook still show my old image?

Social networks cache link previews. After updating your tags, ask them to fetch the page again — for example with Facebook's Sharing Debugger or LinkedIn's Post Inspector.

Do I still need Twitter Card tags?

X falls back to Open Graph tags for the title, description and image, so the og: tags plus a twitter:card tag (which this tool adds) are enough for a large image card.

Is the Open Graph Preview free to use?

Yes. It's free, with no sign-up and no limit on how many times you use it.

Is my input safe when I use this tool?

Yes. Everything runs in your browser. The only network request is your own browser loading the image from the URL you entered — nothing is sent to Toolapt.
